From: Effect of venlafaxine on bone loss associated with ligature-induced periodontitis in Wistar rats
Effect of venlafaxine treatment on the alveolar bone loss in experimental periodontitis in rats (EPD). Measurements were made along the axis of each root of the first molar (three roots) and two recordings for the second and third molar teeth (two roots each). The total alveolar bone loss was obtained by taking the sum of recordings from the buccal tooth and subtracting the value of the right maxilla (unligated control) from the left (mm). Venlafaxine (10 or 50 mg/kg, orally) was administered 1 hour before ligature placement and daily for 10 days. Control groups, sham (SO), and EPD were treated with saline.
